Céline was founded in 1945 by female entrepreneur Céline Vipiana and her husband as a specialty store for children’s leather shoes. Utilizing the craftsmanship of Parisian leather artisans, the brand quickly gained popularity among the upper class. As its clientele grew, Céline expanded its offerings—introducing women’s shoes in 1959, perfumes and scarves in 1965, and handbags in 1966.
